The kitchen and dining room weren't connected, which meant you had to walk all the way through the living room and through the entry hall to get to the dining room. It was obvious (from the light switch in the kitchen that worked the dining room light) that this was not always the case, and I wanted the doorway reopened. Fortunately, I have a daddy who is a pretty darn good carpenter, and being the spoiled daughter that I am, all I had to do was ask Daddy to come do a bit of carpentry work, and it was taken care of before we ever moved in! What a way to spend his Father's Day weekend...working on my new house!
First, a hole had to be punched so that he could inspect the wall's interior for studs, electrical wires, etc.
Frequent breaks are a MUST!
Cutting the doorway! EXCITING!!! (for us, anyway!)
It made the kitchen look SO MUCH BIGGER! Yes, this is how the space should have always been
Almost done!
Finishing touches...
Don't forget break time!
Ready to paint!!!
Decuie definitely approves!!! He loves to hang out there while we are working in the kitchen!
THANKS, Daddy for working so hard on your Father's Day weekend!!! The doorway is WONDERFUL; we LOVE it!!!
