A Touch Of Paint

One of my first projects was to paint those walls!  A trip to Home Depot was required so that we could get all of the necessary supplies.  I soon learned that ONE trip to HD was NOT going to be enough. (Heck, SEVENTEEN trips to HD wasn't enough! HA!)

A peek at the main color...Basketry!
Blue tape is a pain!!!! (But necessary!)

 Drop cloths...another necessity!
 Getting Started!

And now for the accent color: Chocolate Swirl!  Looked like brownie batter! (Thank goodness it didn't smell like brownie batter, or I would have had to have a taste!)
LOVE!

Looks good with the rug in the living room.  Can't wait to get our furniture over here!!!
This was A LOT of work, and required a great deal of patience, but I don't regret any of it!!!  It was much simpler to tape, paint, and touch up BEFORE moving.  SO EXCITED!!!!

Our First Remodel!

The kitchen and dining room weren't connected, which meant you had to walk all the way through the living room and through the entry hall to get to the dining room.  It was obvious (from the light switch in the kitchen that worked the dining room light) that this was not always the case, and I wanted the doorway reopened.  Fortunately, I have a daddy who is a pretty darn good carpenter, and being the spoiled daughter that I am, all I had to do was ask Daddy to come do a bit of carpentry work, and it was taken care of before we ever moved in!  What a way to spend his Father's Day weekend...working on my new house!

First, a hole had to be punched so that he could inspect the wall's interior for studs, electrical wires, etc.

Frequent breaks are a MUST!
Cutting the doorway!  EXCITING!!! (for us, anyway!)

It made the kitchen look SO MUCH BIGGER!  Yes, this is how the space should have always been
Almost done!
Finishing touches...

 Don't forget break time!
 Ready to paint!!!

Decuie definitely approves!!!  He loves to hang out there while we are working in the kitchen!
THANKS, Daddy for working so hard on your Father's Day weekend!!!  The doorway is WONDERFUL; we LOVE it!!!
